Albufeira
Thinking of taking a short break in December as flights are dirt cheap to Faro but I've never ventured to Portugal before.

Anyone stayed in Albufeira in the winter months? Bars for footie? Price/quality of beer? Ladies of the night etc etc......

If you're staying in Albufeira, try going to Olhao (it's a train ride away in between Albufeira and Faro). It is a small fishing Village but with some nice restaurants. There is one opposite the indoor market that I got a dressed crab for me, a fish meal for the mrs, bottle of white wine, bottle of water and bread all for 37 Euros. Olhao is dirt cheap and a really nice place to visit.

Albufeira is what it is. Lots of Brits and neon at night but heat and booze aplenty.

We went to Praia Da Luz in October a few years back and the weather was pretty good. Lovely resort as well. Very quiet.

And before you say it, no, I don't have Maddie.

Vilamoura probably ok in winter due to golfers?

Stayed in a private villa there for Euro 2004

got trains up to Lisbon for the England games, although missed the last one aback after a couple and had to get a cab,. not cheap!

There now, its ok, not much different to Turkey really, possibly cleaner. Same old thing, go in the centres and it can be expensive. The 'Old Town' is stunning visually, with lots of restaurants never seen so many. First time we been to Portugal, we def will be coming back.

Vilamoura is beautiful in the summer down by the marina - totally agree about the Figo bar it's embarrassing.

Would imagine it's very dull and quiet in December though?

Re: Albufeira
Steven you should've tried the old town then, there's two parts to Albufeira ray, the new and old town, the strip in the new town is full of stag and hen do's whereas the old town is a bit more refined but still bars a plenty.

The latest I've been is September and it's still lively

Re: Albufeira
Absolutely horrible place. Went on a stag and that is all there is there. 1 Strip and load of blokes.

Lovely stripper there though. Lancashire bird in the one that is just off the strip behind the mexican (not the one on the roundabout).
